Wanted -can I borrow an engine hoist? Derby or anywhere on the way to gat wick
puma931 - 29/8/13 at 09:14 PM

I need to remove my engine and gearbox and was wondering if anyone would lend me a hoist. Location derby or I could collect on route to Gatwick as I travel there every week.

Thanks

Mathew

If you have no luck borrowing one mate, have you thought about hiring one, HSS on London road in derby for example is £35 + vat for a day and if you return it the same day you get a 20% discount.

Just in case your stuck.

Andy

Ps no I don't work for them.

I live in crawley sussex, and have a cable hoist, but my m8 in Horsham (pekwah1 9 miles away) has a proper hoist, but not sure if he would lend it out

If you want to travel north you can borrow mine Mathew - so long as you bring it back

Think I'm a couple of hours from you - not ideal, but the offers there.

I'm in Derby. You can borrow my chain hoist if you've got a hook to hang it on.

puma931 - 30/8/13 at 09:28 AM

Thanks for the offer, but no hook.

Assuming its a crossfloww, two mates with a length of 4x2 and some rope and you'll have it out easy enough with you guiding it as its lifted. Raise the rear of the car nice and high and leave the front on the ground to give the best angle.

Failing that, but Carl's crane, do the removal/installation and sell it on.

I might buy one. Some used 1 ton hoists fetch £100 plus, but you can buy a new one for £140 delivered..... Will continu searching ebay....

Which side of Derby do you live? I live just north of Ilkeston and have an engine hoist.

Happy to come across with it and help you do what you need to do for an afternoon if your not too far away, but I would want to take it back home at the end of the day. I need it myself and also its not actually mine so would not feel comfortable with lending it out to someone else without me being around.

puma931 - 2/9/13 at 12:22 PM

I live in Etwall. I am free this Thursday or Friday is that is OK.
The engine and gearbox is half out (disconnected and jacked-up) so it should not take long to get it out....
I will U2U my details.

Bought a ball joint press from KMS last week, must have weighed over 20kg. It was free delivery and they also use Amazon as a re-seller - £94.99 from Amazon but £72.57 from KMS. Those Hydroponic tents are no doubt used for growing illegal substances.

puma931 - 5/9/13 at 12:11 PM

Ordered on Monday, arrived Wednesday, assembled Wednesday night, engine out first thing today, swapped the box and put it back by 09:00

Just need to finish bolting all the bits back together and hopefully test the new (£5 ebay) gearbox at the weekend.
