Hi all
Today I took delivery of a Riot SE 1.6
Capri front uprights
Fiesta front uprights upside down on the rear
Floor mount bias pedal box Mc .70 & .75
Overall it looks like a good car but the brakes are hugely over specced with Cosworth 4x4 discs front & rear with massive Brembo calipers on the
front. The brakes work well enough but the pedal is long and quite soft. I figure this is due to a too small master cylinder for the size of the
caliper.
I clearly don't need such big brakes in such a small car. They must weigh as much as me! I'm thinking of going for the hispec 245mm kit from
Burton Power on the front https://www.burtonpower.com/hispec-4-pot-road-brake-kit-ford-escort-capri-245x20mm-hisk04e.html
On the rear there are spacers on the calipers again with massive Cosworth discs. I want to get rid of the spacers and go to standard discs.
Can anyone tell me what discs are used as standard on the rear?
What rear calipers are used as standard?
What are the ball joints used on the rear upright?
Finally it got quite hot when I took it out for 30 mins. When pushing on it got hot and cooled when cruising. It has a large Radtec rad so I guess
that's ok. I wondered if there were any known issues running a Sigma in the middle? Weak water pump?
Thanks Rog

One other thing to check that caused me to ponder for a while. my wife had a Reliant sports car and it was fine until pushed when the engine gauge showed it overheating - turned out that the previous owner had wired the fan the wrong way round so it lew the air back into the rad rather than pulling air through, wires swapped, problem cured
Well upon investigation it's a dodgy sensor. When the engine is cold the digidash is showing 85 degrees. New one ordered.
Hi i have a J15 but its the sameish under the skin
I run HISPEC Ultralite on the front with the Rally design VAG/Audi calipers on the rear they stop the car really well the IVA tester commented on how
good the braking was at the test but it runs on the Caterham (triumph herald uprights front ?) and Sylvas own rear uprights sure the discs were 235mm
solids on all 4 corners.
Havent tracked it yet but that is maybe were the small solid discs might suffer a bit
I have the Sigma 1.6se never had a problem with overheating etc is it all plumbed as per original Ford spec ? i have tried to vent the rear as much
as poss with vents over the Cat and headers and with my clamshell a bit of ventilation holing on the ears next to me and passengers heads
Enjoy
