Real nasty ebay scam

received a really plausible ebay scam message, the email is not one i use for ebay and doesn't actually exist on their database, suggesting they used a bot to trawl ebay for email addys, on my ebay shop. I guess once you click the link they harvest your details, perhaps hoping they can use it for paypal also.

I seem to be getting a lot of ebay scam messages aswell, I have a listing with a email address is and I get about 2 - 3 emails a day that are made to look like ebay messages usually saying that my account is being suspended but lately they have been getting craftier and making them look more convincing.

They always start with dear ebay member rather than my username which is a dead giveaway (If you know) but in theory they could use the right user name as they just have to look at the listing with the email address in! You just need to be very careful and check every message for the obvious things. Not good

I've been getting quite a few eBay / Paypal scam mails recently that are more plausible than the usual pish.

NEVER click on any of the ebay / paypal links contained in the email.

Does look quite authentic, except the auction number is invalid and the email sender, ebay name and the name he signed off with are all different.

You know they're false though Scott when they're offering you more for things than you paid

If you hover over some of the hyperlinks it will show the address and this wouldnt be related to ebay

I had exactly the same scam supposedly from "Ebay" so just sent to there scam link. Cheers Ray
