I started with pinto to zetec conversion. I have a blacktop zetec 2.0 and type 9 gearbox.
I found that it's good to use 1.8 flywheel (lighter then 2.0) and redrilled it so it will take a pinto clutch (it sould take more power, 215mm
dia). So I have bought 1.8 flywheel (part number 928m6398AE) but my pinto coverplate do not line up with dowel pins on that 1.8 flywheel. It's
little bit smaller. I thought that pinto cover plate will fit on 1.8 flywheel dowel pins and I will redrill only holes for cover plate mounting bolts.
Am I right? If yes what clutch and cover plate should I use then?
I bought this set up.. Linky
You can centralize the pressure plate by measuring for the outside edge of flywheel. Clamp up and drill though fixing holes,
mine ran like this for years till i fitted lightened flywheel.
I just fettled dowl holes till it fitted
how so, that so many people wrote that pinto cover plate fits on dowel pins on 1.8 flywheel? Does anyone has a part numbers of this combination? Maybe I have a wrong cover plate.
the locating dowls on the zetec flywheel are just slightly off from the pinto cover plate and a small amount of fettling and it will fit i think the bolt holes are all in the correct place
in my case they are off quite a lot.
245 mm in diameter between mounting holes on my old pinto cover plate. 260 mm on zetec flywheel.
So the question is, which clutch and cover plate is correct for 1.8 zetec flywheel? Part numbers would be very helpfull.

Here's a pic of a lightweight flywheel from Retroford drilled for both zetec and pinto clutch. None of the holes for one quite line up with the
other. The benefit of the pinto pressure plate is it's deeper, giving the diaphragm springs a better angle to exert more force so potential
torque transmission is higher, like for like. Standard pinto pressure plate and organic clutch plate on mine copes with a modified ST with no problem
whereas I got clutch slip with standard 1.8 zetec clutch on a 2.0 blacktop.
