ZX12R engine mounts

Had the chance to buy a low mileage year 2000 ZX12R today but one of the engine mount bolts at the front of the bike where it goes in to the cylinder head was snapped. Not only was it snapped but it was really badly attempt ridden with someone trying to drill round (yes round) the broken bolt to get it out. This means I reckon that there is no real chance of drilling the bolt out properly and either leaving the thread in and it being in good condition, or rethreading it, as the metal around where the bolt should go has chunks out of it where they have drilled in places up to 2cm deep perhaps.

So my question is; if fitting the ZX12R lump in to a kitcar, then would this engine mount point be used anyway? It is at the front of the engine, just above the exhausts.

Would anybody be interested in buying it if I got the bike, and if so then for how much as I may still have the opportunity to buy it should I wish.

Hi Jon,

I use that mount on my installation of the A1 ZX12R lump in my car. I figured that it was needed, to stop the engine from trying to twist if only mounted lower down using the lower mounts.

Do you have a photo of the damage? We might be able to suggest a repair/work around?

You could look at what other holes are available that could be used to brace the engine - there are several blanks and holes that are not used when mounted in a car, and these might be suitable to be converted into an engine mount point...? Or, could you drill/machine out the damage, and weld in a threaded aluminium boss? I would think a skilled Tig welder could do that without too much of a problem.

For the right price I am always interested in buying a spare engine - so please let me know how much you are looking for...

Our engine is a 2004 ZX12R but I think the front top mount is similar. We used ours as the picture below shows
