Lovely cars, watched a few Abarths go through the Goodwood Revival auction a month or so back.
If its an original there's about zero VW beetle gone into it.....

According to this that is an original.
quote:
This vehicle is an Abarth Barchetta Tubolare. It has a hand-made aluminum tubular frame and was a very successful race car. In 1965 alone, Abarth and
their performance cars won almost 900 races.
Same guy driving it, looks like that photo was from the same event.

Yes - original not VW based but below is what I am talking about.
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-cobra-talk/131566-cobra-kit-based-vw-2.html
About half way down the thread - a poster has the moulds from an original car that can be made to fit a VW chassis adapted as per an American Crusader
that was based on a Formula Vee concept and a modified Abarth body. It seems like he is willing to sell bodies.

You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.

Lovely
That is a thing of beauty.
Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
