Iv just fitted a k6 sprocket cover to a k4 engine all fixing hole match up however the clutch push rod is about an inch to short does anyone know if the k6 push rod is longer and if so will one go straight into the k4 engine?
Yep its different but not by an inch the k6 will fit there all same k1 to k10
So do i need to get a k6 push rod? if i look down through the sprocket cover the rod is about 4mm short of the push mech plus the lengh inside the mech.
Yep sorry you need a k6 rod i should have some but cant check till Sat am
gis a ring if you need one or i can measure some for you
cheers Malc
Iv just gone and had a look and tried the k4 sprocket cover and the rod is also to short for that what could this mean wrong rod? I have tried to push the rod in to move the clutch and there is no movement(not sure how much pressure is needed) is there something wrong with the clutch itself? any ideas would be apprieciated.
where did engine come from may be several faults
dare i say it ebay
It takes a lot of pressure to push that rod in you cant do it by hand if there is resistance prob all ok and rod is just the wrong one ill
measure you up a selection of K series rods if you want on sat
id be checking the engine number as well K4 start with T711-??????
the numbers are on rear of gearbox casing and if you run your finger along the number it should scratch the skin as you do if it is smooth
beware of a number change/restamping
cheers
The number starts with T711 i wouldnt say it is rough though.
If you could measure some up for me it would be much apprieciated cheers.

If these are similar to the earlier gsxr engines (gsxr1100) then its just a 6mm steel rod.
I made one up from a long stainless bolt which seems to work.
Hi yep the k4 and k5/6 are 105mm the k7/8 are 108mm
this could be the problem

Thanks for getting back to me well iv measured the rod i have and it is a little shorter however its not looking good it will still be about 20-25mm short with the longer rod. So i take it i have a problem any ideas on what could be wrong or where to start would be apprieciated.I get in a cold sweat just thinking about having to strip the engine down
