Help needed - Hard disc recovery tools

Transferring data to a new PC, I managed to corrupt the directory structure of a hdd in a caddy, the data isn't mega important, but it would be useful to have it back.

Does anyone know of a freebie tool to try and recover some of the files, I've tried a couple but you get to copying the data to a usable location and you're asked to buy a license......

I seem to remember I had good results from Testdisk.

i do dr as part of my day job, if you want to send me the hdd along with a usb hard drive i could get it done for the cost of p&p and a donation to Macmillan, unfortuantely cant let you have the tools as they cost a fortune and require a usb security dongle to work. u2u me i fi can help

do a search for GET MY DATA BACK

really worth the few quid

I used it to return all my data after I stuffed the boot sector by shutting down the machine at the wall switch..took about 300 goes to stuff the drive...got everything back with that software
