Fun car you can put a wife and child in
Yeah, I know - I shouldn't really be thinking about selling the fury. But I don't use at all at the moment and there's no room for a
wife and child, which means I'll be driving the shed to work in summer too.
I keep wondering what I could get if I were to chop it AND the wife's MX5 and put another couple of grand in the pot.
What would you get for £15K that is:
a)as fun as a kit (OK, nearly)
b)Can legally take a child (isofix!)
c)will do a track day (properly)
d)can go shopping in, or long journeys
Don't mind classics or modern cars, quite fancy a gt or coupe of some sort... would prefer not to go FWD

RX8, and spend the rest of your budget on fuel 
M3 must be a consideration.
Wait a year or so and get a GT86/BRZ

my pal had one when they first came out and did a trackday but then needed new brakes --- ££££
no drifting but good in snow.
quite fast for a road car.

measure twice, cut once, scrap it, start again.

Mitsubishi Evolution? Perhaps a choice between the 7, 8 and 9, depending whether you want older mint or newer average?

How about a nice Jag? XJS or an XK should come in budget but running cost will be high. The obvious choices would probably be something Japanese or
German but if your willing to go old 15K will get you alot of cool stuff.
For something abit unusual, how about something American? On Auto trader at the moment theres quite a few CTS's and £6K will get you a choice of
57 plate cars with about 30 to 40K on the clock.

Anything heavy is going to cost in terms of tyres,brakes etc on trackdays - how about a Mk2 Golf with a big engine

Surprised nobody's mentioned a renultsport Clio, My Mrs has just brought a Clio 200 Gordini must say im really impressed with it, even to the
extent im considering selling the locost and buying a 197 cup as a project/ road/ track car

Previous shape Mercedes SL (R129). You could pick up an excellent low milegae AMG 55 with the optional rear seat and be consious in the knowledge this
very driveable V8 would just slowly increase in value all the time you owned it. All SLs go up in value, the 1970s to 80s R107 series are already
worth a fortune as are the ones before that ( 1960's W113 series)

M3 I would go for, you will get a nice one for that money and a cab if you wanted?
Will eat trackdays for fun and there comfy and easy to drive everyday with a big boot

DB7's are around this price point now, cat D V12 or auto i6
Will not kill anything on the track but perfectly useable and will not devalue if looked after.
XKR is also a good shout, just get one that is still in the fixed £240 tax bracket and keep a lump of money back.

Great replies
Never really fancied BMW (I'm a ford man at heart) but M3 does really tick all the boxes. Mrs Fizzer needs some convincing though
GT86/BRZ is perfect of course - as is an evora - both out of range sadly...
996 would do it too - more expensive to run than an M3?
Love that Golf, what a tidy machine - a friend races mk2 gti's - they really are awesome

Wouldn't have thought so - tyres will be similar sizes, fuel consumption probably higher on an M3 and Porsche service prices are probably
comparable to BMW for these cars. Both well made with typical german reliability. I can imagine parts prices are fairly comparable too.
M3 will have more back seat space and boot capacity though.
