Electric rad fans........

Is it worth the extra £££££££ to buy a Kenlowe or Spal over the budget slim line fans which are circa 1/3 cheaper?

Cheers

No direct experience, but I read enough horror stories about the cheap ones when I was looking for one to convince me that it was.

look at the cfm thats how you decide. if your rad is thicker than 45mm then you will need a beast of a fan to drag the air through.

The more expensive ones run much faster. You can hear the difference between the cheap ones and more expensive.

I run 2 x 8inch cheap fans and it's ok for an alloy radiator and inter cooler sandwiched together .... JUST

Ok cheers.

I found a Spal supplier in the USA selling them at a very good price, but the shipping killed off that idea.Worked out the same price as buying in the UK.

We used two SPAL fans from an Aprilia RSV on our Phoenix Fireblade build. We paid a total of £18 for the pair on Ebay.

I'll keep an eye on ebay, need a 9 or possibly 10 inch fan.

How do you find these fans manage the heat?

They're fine. They manage perfectly on superbikes, many of which only have one fan fitted.
Mounting them was tricky. My co-builder made a superb mounting plate.
If your radiator is correctly specced to suit your engine then they will only be needed when standing in traffic or just ticking over for ages.

I believe the one on my old haynes roadster was also from a polo.
