I bought some carbon look R1 mirrors from a HK supplier and the SVA tester failed the nearside one on 'field of view'. The glass in the mirrors was flat and the tester said they need to be convex to get the correct field of view particularly in the nearside one. Off-side passed ok.
Check with the supplier to see if they have flat or convex glass.

cheers f1ngers
convex glass ok, how did you get round it then did you have to replace the mirror or can you get convex glass to put in them

I bought a Renault Laguna convex mirror and took it with the R1 mirror to a local glass place where they cut it to fit. Stuck it on to the existing mirror with the double sided sticky stuff on the back of the Laguna mirror and finished off with some black silicone around the edges. Should be ok for SVA but won't know until next week when I have a retest booked.
