I want to make a new diffuser template and it has a bend to it, not stupidly sharp but tight enough.
Hardboard is just a bit too tough and corregated cardboard doesnt bend smoothly. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Obviously the cheaper the better...as it will be thrown away eventually.
How big does it need to be?
Would mountboard (stiff card for mounting pictures) do the job... readily available up to 60" x 40" size?
Is thin (2.5mm) MDF still too stiff?
corex, the stuff for sale signs are made out of ?
Project Binky would use CAD, even for bends.
CAD = Cardboard Aided Design.
Cornflake packet, other similar products are acceptable!!!
The size is up about 2metres wide by 60cm high so quite big!
Check out flexi ply comes in various thicknesses and used to laminate nice flowing shapes I think Wickes sell it in some stores but it isnt a cheap
product
Maybe if you bought a full sheet of thin flexi ply you could easily laminate your desired shape. You could sell the leftover bit to some one on

Cardboard from. An art shop like 800gram
Cerial box, if its not stiff enough when formed, paint it in polyurethane varnish..
I would use metal.
A sheet of thin bright mild steel could be a fraction of the price of the final more exotic material.

Here in Carmen I use Samīs Club,
A lot of products come with cardboard separators that are thicker than Cereal box cardboard.
you should have something like that.
Itīs free, and I can take as many as I want.
They are about standard Pallet dimensions, but you can tape two sheets (or more) together

I have some great stuff that they use for printing hoarding signs on - mine came from Waitrose signage round building works. Its a white painted
aluminium sandwich with a plastic in the middle, about 3mm thick in total. Comes in sheets 10ft x 4ft I think.
I bought loads and used a lot of it as clean walls in my food business. It is also fantastic for templates as it is rigid, easily drilled and you can
cut it with a blade. Cut just one alu side and it folds to any angle and holds it. Search for Dibond but I am sure there are others.
Thanks all, ill work my way through these ideas
