So my 1996 Ginetta G27 that was flooded in cockermouth in 2009, then purchased by me nearly 5 years ago, and slowly rebuilt has hit another milestone
today.
It rolled out of the garage this morning, to be taken away for its Megasquirt tune up.
If all goes well, its onto a suspension setup then MOT.

Great looking re-build!
What kind of power are you expecting and is it a standard 1.8 engine??
Just had mine on the RR with twin 40 webers ;-) rather than your TBs
Cheers
Alex
Looks fab, I fancied a Ginetta, your G27 is a beaut
Just noticed that your cage is "inside" the screen and hood line, do you recall who made it for you?

That is not bad for £50!
My engine was re-built by Ginetta when the car was originally built with some peaky Kent cams and much to my surprise it pushed out 178 at the
flywheel from a recently calibrated RR (I was a bit sceptical).
The roll cage does look pretty neat... it would be great to get something similar in mine without the fwd strut... currently I have nothing!
Lovely looking car. Bet you can't wait to get her back out on the road
have you got an MOT yet?
Alex
No not yet. Car arrived back from the rollers about an hour ago.
I have a few minor issues to resolve and a bit of tidying of the bonnet then it will be MOTable. Looking to end of march.
Are you happy with the RR results on your 50 squid ebay special engine?
Yeah. Made 150 with a nice curve. Couple of minor issues to resolve, but nothing showstopping... suspension next...
I had a very short drive out of the car yesterday to just turn it round in the street.
More progress this evening...
So my MOT is booked for next Saturday... this weekend was meant to be for last minute tinkering & tidying etc.
While I got a lot done my to do list is now bigger than it was on Friday... Biggest PITA is after spending 2hours bleeding brakes i found that the
brake light switch is duff... its going to be a busy week again.
I really like that.
So today was its maiden voyage for 12miles to the MOT station. I'm pleased to report a clean bill of health. So for the first time in 8 years the
car is road legal. I'm a happy camper.
Found a couple of minor issues on route one being a slight oil leak from a union and the interior mirror is loose. I'll take that as a success.
Great news!
Awesome!!
Great build thread on FB! It was very helpful.
I sent you a message on FB.
Thanks for posting!
After a little more testing it appears my crownwheel is a 'little' worn. Should collect replacement this weekend, and if mr postie delivers
new wheel bearings too by the weekend I should be going again by the end of the Bank Holiday.
Description
That does not look pretty!
So the car had a few outings last year but all play was stopped during a trip (to spectate) at Santa pod last August.
The rear halfshaft slipped in the bearing and wiped out the brakes, axle and halfshaft. It wasn't pretty we even had flames when I stopped.
Description
Fast forward to now, the axle has had new 'bolt on hub' style rear half shafts, the engine has been out to change some gaskets, replace the
clutch release bearing, a new exhaust and numerous little tweeks as you do. What do you think?
It goes for its 2017 MOT tomorrow

Congratulations! Always a good day
Every dash should have a DB9 RS232 port on it
sounds like a nightmare after all your effort with the car and great news that you are back on the road.
did you pass the MOT?
All passed, just a advisory for handbrake travel.
Shame it rained on the way home so couldn't enjoy it properly
Also found that poly exhaust mounts are crap, as it melted and sheered
Hoping for sunny weather tomorrow
lots of photos on my instagram @antashuk if your into that kind of thing.
Current Progress:
Took the car to the Coventry MotorFest.. got rained on... wiper motor packed up.... new motor fitted which is a great improvement.
Digital dash now installed (bar a bit of wiring tidy up) showing GPS speed, RPM, Air Temp and Water Temps (from the Megasquirt via CANBUS).
Had the suspension setup professionally which has made a world of difference.
Went for a run out with friend, found bumpy roads and spirited driving is not nice... new springs required.
Got the digidash setup to show fuel level (which included installing a float in the tank) this evening.

Well its been a year since the last update. Winter saw some upgrades, a ported head, new seats, wilwood 4 pots up front, new alternator, power
steering, shocks/springs and a few minor tidy ups. All followed by a fresh MOT.
Been to a few shows so far and going well. Even survived the over 400 mile round trip to retro cars weekender at Goodwood. (bar a alternator wire
snapping on the A34)
First trackday this coming weekend.
Description
Trackday at Llandow went reasonably well bar an overheating fuel pump. But was still battling on until the chequered flag came out.
More shows, a few mod's and repairs later.
Retro rides Gathering last weekend and was selected for some hill runs.
