Or did it start during xmas break with getting the garage sorted. Prior to a major clear out it was hard to even get inside.
After some severe culling of crap, several coats of paint on walls and floor, high level racking and tools boards it is now a place I'm happy to be in. Good job really as I guess I will be spending many hours in there.




First job was to get the engine back home from storage at work.
Handy having a car that doesn't have any value
Not a lot of room to play with



Finally out of the car and safe in the garage.


A few bits to remove before bolting to the engine stand.


Then hit first of I suspect many problems. Need some M12 x100 bolts to attach engine which I don't have. Quick trip to work tomorrow will solve that. So that's it for now. Strip down starts properly tomorrow.

Pretty sure they are 1.5 fine pitch bolts from memory of when I did mine.

Nice organisation - though having stuff in carrier boxes can slow down the replacement as you work. Also think you will be looking for more work surface quite soon.

Bench is only there in case I need to file something or assemble smaller parts like calipers. All fabrication of parts inc chassis will be done at work where I have all the facilities and equipment.

I built my chassis at work where I had all the tools. Just did assembly at home.
Worked well in a single garage.

Engine is now in lots of pieces. Just 3 pistons and the crank to remove. Only took 7 hours from start to finish, mainly due to my new favorite tool.
For £42 is works very well.

Good news is the big end bearing on the piston I removed looks very good so hoping I wont have to regrind crank, will know for certain once removed and taken to work to measure. Bad news there is some light scoring to piston skirt and bore so rebore and new pistons required.



Next steps complete strip down (less than an hour) then find out best place in Northampton to get rebore done
