IS IT TIME TO NAME AS SHAME
omega0684 - 15/7/09 at 07:04 PM

About two months ago i put a post up asking about CF Panels and who could make them for me. A person on the forum came forward and u2u'd me to say that he could provide what i was asking for.

i paid the guy £110 for a 4ft by 2 1/2ft panel which was supplied about a week later, it was all covered in masking take so couldn't inspect it until i got home, when i got home i was terribly dis-appointed at what i was looking at, the panel was not what i'd asked for at all with distorted weave air bubbles in the gel coat.

hear are some photo's

as you can imagine im pretty pi$$ed off right now, i have sent him several u2u's asking him to either replace the panel and do the job properly or refund my money, I HAVE GOT NO REPLIES, i have e-mailed him, I GOT NO REPLY, i rang him, I GOT NO REPLY SO LEFT A MESSAGE.

i paid £55 via paypal and then £55 in cash on collection, i have taken the matter up with paypal and hope to get half my money back but what about the other half, its obviously down do him to do whats morally right in the situation.

is it time to name and shame?

Good god that is truly awful for what i'm sure is supposed to be a decorative panel. I'd say yes to save anyone else the same agro - you've given enough time for them to get back to you surely.

disco_biscuit - 15/7/09 at 07:07 PM

Yes it is time to name and shame, is it the same person who says they are better and cheaper than carbon mods?

DRC INDY 7 - 15/7/09 at 07:07 PM

It depends if hes on holiday then not going to be able to reply

If you know hes not then name and shame

JoelP - 15/7/09 at 07:13 PM

would have to agree, name and shame. Very poor panel

Lightning - 15/7/09 at 07:20 PM

i would nor normally agree with name and shame but in this instance no one should send out panels with weave as bad as that. I have thrown away bits better than that.

mookaloid - 15/7/09 at 07:21 PM

has he read your U2U's?

If so then he knows about the problem and is definitely ignoring you.

You know what to do then.......

I doubt it, he's in Greece, so the cash on collection bit puts that in doubt.

omega0684 - 15/7/09 at 07:26 PM

its not Echrinda !!! but i have heard of his antics as well!

i have just found a alternative e-mail for him off the tiger 6 owners club forum, so sent him another e-mail

what a dick,
who is he

smart51 - 15/7/09 at 07:30 PM

That is truly awful. My first attempt was better than that. The big kink in the weave looks like the cloth has been folded in half both ways and stacked up. There's no excuse for the surface bubbles either.

You should have checked the panel before parting with cash.

Check to see if the gut has read your U2U If he has and not replied then name him. We can all do with avoiding work like that. A person with professional pride wouldn't let a piece like that go to a customer.

200mph - 15/7/09 at 07:45 PM

how does one check if a U2U has been read?

cloudy - 15/7/09 at 07:50 PM

If you go to your sent items it will show Unread or Read under status...

James

The Supplier was VIATRON!

his real name is Mac McCarthy, based in shropshire, apparently part of VXS-Racing.com,

he was last active on this forum on the 24/6/09 at 17:22, but he was last active on the tiger forum last week, 04/07/09 at 11:02 PM, so i know he's not on holiday.

DD NOT BUY FROM HIM!

twybrow - 15/7/09 at 07:52 PM

You can check by looking in your U2U outbox.

And yes, as far as I know, the U2Us have been read, and the last activity for the individual has been much more recent than the U2Us.

Go on Alex. Tell it as it is.....

Edited due to slow typing!

Right hand column of inbox says 'Read' or 'Unread'

COREdevelopments - 15/7/09 at 08:06 PM

URGHHH! That carbon is terrible. cant believe the guy let it out of his hands. Especially to someone picking it up in person. That's truely shocking

Letter to him threatening small claims court.

At the same time, if you paid the paypal payment using a credit card you could try claiming from the credit card company for the whole amount under the consumer credit act - I don't know if this works but it should do.

If all else fails take him to the small claims court for failing to supply the goods as ordered.

omega0684 - 15/7/09 at 08:40 PM

how much would a small claims court cost?

eznfrank - 15/7/09 at 08:55 PM

All the info is on www.moneyclaim.gov.uk, depends on the amount but less than £50 IIRC.

More info HERE as well although if/when you do get a judgement it would cost further enforce but in theory you get that back from the defendant.

prawnabie - 15/7/09 at 09:38 PM

Have you got any recipts for the cash? Also did you use a checkout to pay on just send him money over paypal?

This is usually what happens when you go for the cheapest option!

cjtheman - 15/7/09 at 09:42 PM

if i were you i would take it back to him in person for the sake of 60 miles and give him the chance to explain before you show him where he can store his cabon
that is the worst i have ever seen
cheers
colin

omega0684 - 15/7/09 at 09:53 PM

sent him another e-mail and isn't it convenient that i get an out of office reply! unitl monday the 20th

Keith Weiland - 15/7/09 at 09:53 PM

I assume by what you say you went and collected, if that is the case you know where he lives. We can go and politely ask for your money back in person if he doesn't reply to the U2U.

Confused but excited. - 15/7/09 at 10:36 PM

I would not normally criticise someone else's work but Holy Shit that is crap!
I would be wild.
I would firstly go to his Trading Standards Office and make a formal complaint.
If you don't get any joy there...F*ck him up!
Because that is just taking the p1ss.

gaz_gaz - 15/7/09 at 10:43 PM

damn, i'd be embarressed to sell something that shocking.

If your still after a cf sheet drop me a u2u, i may beable to help you out.

I'd be embarressed to give something away like that.

gaz_gaz - 15/7/09 at 10:55 PM

well yes, its fit for nothnig other than the bin,

probably some chancer whose bought a cheap kit and now thinks there a carbon fibre guru.,

oldtimer - 16/7/09 at 07:03 AM

Trading Standards complaints seem to go nowhere these days. As mentioned, moyeyclaimonline is good and cheap. Costs get added to the debt too. If you got an 'away till' message, give him 7 days for a full refund then act - claiming from him puts the financial pressure on his shoulders rather than the credit card company - which we all end up paying for in the end. Have you tried contacting who he works for? they may not know/want him doing what he is up to.

iiyama - 16/7/09 at 08:10 AM

Jeez Alex, I see what you mean! Stevie Wonder could do better then that. Youll always get movement in the weave with wet lay but that really is taking the pi$$
