Heres the reason for my question, my car came with 1300xflow mated to a 5 speed type 9. Everything Im reading about RWD conversions for the zetec says you need either the sierra or RS2000 bellhousing.

As my car is a 5 speed type9 I made the assumption that that its from a Sierra, I hope I'm right

It's a generic ford box, granada's transits p100's any ford with RWD in that era are possible.

You do not one out of a commercial vehicle really, 1st may be a waste of time.

I,m sure the more knowledgable will be along shortly.

Input shaft length and first gear ratios are the biggest give away.

Four cylinder version these are 177mm and 3.64
V6 versions are 205mm and 3.36

Lots of info here. http://www.type9gearbox.co.uk/type-9-production.html

OK,
Further investigation proves Im ok. The bellhousing chat was all about converting escorts to Zetec and keeping the 4 speed Escort box.

Phew!
