(modern) Escort brakes on Sierra Hubs

Anyone done this?
Been looking into getting a solid disk setup on the front
Not had much luck getting a set of Sierra solid calipers at reasonable cost (with carriers and the other stuff thats needed)

Rang GBS (Robin Hood?) and they have some solid brake setups in stock ready to ship...they guy said they were from Escort MK6, and would bolt straight up
I did say I was using a sierra hub and he said no problem, they just bolt up

I'm taking my hubs into work tomorrow to see if we have any poverty spec MK6 Escorts with solid disks/calipers to see if the offset etc is right

Anyone else used Escort Mk6 gear up front on a Sierra hub?
(will save me annoying the bosses by wasting time "stripping their stock to just see if they fit"

Done some searching on here and found a few posts suggesting they 'might' fit, but no one saying they were using them and that it would 100% bolt up and work

I have now used all my "credit" searching Brakes international site and am well into my emergency 10 credits, but have found that the disks are very similar , only the total height seems different to the sierra solid disk- but that difference could well be made up with the different caliper offset?

If I do find some tomorrow and am allowed to play "caliper swapsies" I will report back, but will be watching this thread for any definitive answers

Regards
Rob

Can't help with the Escort brake question but if you delete your browsing history and temp files you can go again with Brakes Int

My wife is very understanding, she understands that if I am in the garage I am not in the house annoying her.

OK so what I have found out so far

KA solid disks and calipers..
the caliper bolts up no problem, but the KA disk has the wrong "offset"....

A quick butchers at the brakes int site shows that either the Sierra solid disk or the Escort mk4 (86-90 from 1.1 +1.3 inc vans) solid disk also looks like it will fit

No joy at local Halfords on way home tonight for either disk, but am going to visit local autofactors tomorrow

Hoping they have the Escort disks in stock as they are also a tad thinner at 10.2mm rather than 12mm for the Sierra

The brake pads are also different to the Sierra vented setup- they are a bit smaller and seem to be common amongst the KA solids and Fiesta mk4 1.25 and 1.3 inc vans

Have seen greenstuff pads (I was using these on the vented setup and they seem OK to me?) in these sizes, but also have spotted some Mintex jobbies which seem to get good reviews on here in this size

Will update once all is sorted :-)

Could be useful for anyone else trying to get a (cheap) solid disk setup on Sierra hubs ?

Regards
Rob
