has ayone here fitted a 2008 r1, and what tips do you have,
i,ve started to build an mk indy r with a 2008 r1 supplied by mk through yorkshire engines, however mk are no help, i need some tips on any thing i
need to do to get it running. ie: will it run without the mechanicle trumpets on the throttle boddies, as they stand to hi to keep under the bonnet,
any tips would be appreciated.

should have bought the bonnet bulge option on the bonnet from mk
and if u have then u must be doing something wrong for standard setup anyway
could make your own airbox with a cone filter
or use a sausage filter

Have you tried speaking to Malc (yorkshire-engines on here if you want to u2u)? How far does your sump protrude below the chassis rails?

First off, make sure you do all the mods listed here.
In short:
Baffled Sump
Link crankcase breather to top end of engine, by either installing a JIC connector in the cam cover, or by blocking up and redrilling the AIS
system.
Over fill the oil slightly
You will need a power commander either way, as the fueling will be out quite a bit.
For the air filter, it will run without the mechanical trumpets, in mine I have glued in some static metal ones, after IVA I will find a way to fit
the mechanical ones again as it should give a boost in low end torque.
I've just used some trumpet socks for now, but will get a proper induction system made up afterwards.
Talking to Andy bates recently he mentioned that these engines are sensitive to the header length and that equal length headers are a must.

BTW my plan is to rotate the air box around 180 degrees so that it leans over less, then put the filter on the top rather than the side, this reduces
the size of the airbox, but should still have room for the trumpets.

Seeing as you've bought one with DBW, just make sure if you chop any wires you do it right, me personally i'd leave the throttle wiring
well alone just incase, especially if your not confident with it.
Mess up and get faulty readings and the throttle will end up doing what it want's
