On Alfa Romeo's, the injector runs lean, overheats the piston crown which melts, this now acts like a pump and sucks all the oil out through the exhaust ruining the cat, the mains and big ends run dry and then seize. All in 4 seconds!

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

As with a coil pack fault a misfire Pcode in the P03xx range pointing to a specific cylinder.

Poor idle quality.

Plug that reads different to the others.

I assume you don't mean sticking open. If so, a stink of fuel when the fuel pump is running even when the engine is turned off.

usual symptom is either seriously lean or p!ssing fuel out the exhaust...

Dad had a short on his Rover 75 injector harness so it stuck open (bad maintenance by a non-dealer maintenance place led to chafing).

He basically could see his fuel needle dropping as he drove down the M40....
