Hayabusa powered MK Indy arrives tomorrow!

Quick hello from a Newbie!

Just bought a tuned Hayabusa powered MK Indy off a mate and he's trailering it to me tomorrow evening!

Been in negotiations since last week and managed to work out a good deal between us.

The car currently needs putting back together, has just had a big service and full respray. I need to put body panels back on and sort out a few bits of wiring and a switch for the reverse gear (not the electric type)

Apparantly the engine originally cost in the region of 9K having been professionally modified to around 260bhp, it comes with an aftermarket ecu as well.

Im very new to this and will be looking for advice in putting it back together, theres a couple of brackets missing here and there and a few bits to source to get it perfect so thanks in advance for your help!

Don't really know to be honest! Id like to take it with a pinch of salt but the proof will be in the driving of it (and if anyone with a better idea than me wanted to give it a look over!!)

I come from mainly a Honda and Mitsubishi background, this is my first 'kit car' and first bike engine too!

Hoping to get her put back together then go visit my local circuit (croft) for some safe practice runs to get used to how it drives.

It sounds like the Indy you're buying is only partially built........ Is it/has it been registered and on the road?

Yeah it's all road registered on a 'Q' plate, hoping for the rain to stay off tonight otherwise we'll have to postpone.

Spoke to him earlier and I'll need some brackets to mount the nose cone, it has some cheap mesh that I'm gonna replace with something a little sturdier, I also need to work out how to mount/secure the engine cover (be easier once I have the car in my garage so I can see what I need and then ask about it!)

I need some sort of cable pulley for the reverse gear (he was thinking of using an old manual choke type thing), I want to make a plastic dash to replace the heavy metal one it has, as well as put the rear 'storage' bit back together.

Seats etc all need putting back in

He recommends I source a replacement coil pack as it seems to eat plugs and I need to find someone with experience of the aftermarket ecu and the right program to check it over (will find out more on the ecu when I get it)

Finally from memory he says it would be a good idea to source an air intake box rather than just the pipercross foam filter that he thinks 'could' ignite if it backfired excessively.

It has some puma 15" alloys on with cheapish tyres, I'll be looking to replace them with some 14 's I think

That's all so far but I'm fairly confident there'll be more to add to it!

The rain hasn't let up so no go tonight

Gonna shrink wrap the engine area to protect it and the electrics and go again for tomorrow.

Aye the rain is indeed very depressing..

Just a thought on the 15's keep them, rubber is cheaper and much more available for 15's over 14's.

suppose, was planning on either getting some 888's or a more fast road based tyre, maybe the R1R....

just checked camskill and the 195/50/15 tyres are quite cheap as well.

initial thoughts was to reduce the unsprung weight as well as smaller wheels accelerate quicker at the sacrifice of top end speed

Sold the Evo mate, long story to do with the wife and her 'brilliant' ideas..........

Think it's prob been for the best though tbh. Got a diesel pug runabout that uses as much fuel in 6 weeks that the Evo used in 1. Its allowed mr to buy this little weapon too, which will be a much more capable thing when she's all finished.

How's yours? Did you get over to croft this last weekend, I think Stu was on in his latest addition - EK9 CTR..
