Diff help needed
Hi all
I'm trying to identify what ratio diff I have in my kit so I can configure my digidash. I've been through the diff codes thread at the top
of this forum but can't seem to find the matching code as well as a lengthy google search, tbh I just keep getting conflicting info.
Unfortunately the tag on the diff is corroded and no longer any use so all I have are the numbers stamped into the back of the diff which read as
follows:
83BG-4033-BA- D 04 BA
If anyone can make any sense of this please let me know. All I know is that it's a LSD.
Cheers

can you do a mechanical test, and count the number of input turns to output?

What diff is if. You can always remove back plate and it will say it on the crown wheel.

3.6 or 3.9
Jack up rear (use axle stands) chalk mark on inside of tyre, chalk mark on prop flange, rotate wheel 1 turn, count prop rotations, should be 3 1/2 for
3.6, 4 for 3.9.

If both wheels rotate once then the quoted text is completely true.
If you only rotate one wheel (and the other doesn't rotate) then you will need to rotate the single wheel twice to get these numbers.
This a very easy test to do.
Or if it is easier then take the back plate off and count the teeth on the big gear and the one that meshes with it and divide.

Many thanks for all the replies. I've worked out that the diff has a ratio of 3.9 if anyone else finds this info of any use.
Cheers
