Mondeo 2.0 zetec / focus 2.0 zetec the same?

As my other post my locost engine is no good.

It's a mondeo zetec engine and I have the chance to buy a focus 2.0 zetec engine. I'm thinking about just swapping the bottom end. Would this be possible with these 2 engines?

Why not just swap the whole engine, less trouble

focus is a black top engine i think .your engine may be an st 170 engine witch i think is more on the line of a silver top mondeo/escort up to about 97 . i know silvertop heads will not fit on blacktop blocks or the other way round

blacktop silvertop sumps are different beasts too. not sure about bottom end, gut feeling says 'no' but maybe it's possible???

what induction are you running? If it's aftermarket (like webers or throttle bodies), you have a decent exhaust and the blacktop has '130' cams then you would be looking at getting ~150 out of a standard blacktop, not far off what you have now (if you are getting 170now). - there are extra things to consider, alternator mounting, idler pulleys, 'moving' an engine mount hole... etc.

blacktop is slightly taller too.

Hi mate I got the black top engine and it won't fit my mates just managed to get the bottom end on somehow. There is also a lot of other work needed but he can do it.

My silver top was not an st170 it was the old black top what they made for 2 years so be much better getting the black top in
