Ford Minilites or similar - 14" but higher ET offset
Hi all
My Dad needs a pair (or four if nobody has a spare pair) of Minilites but with a higher offset (current ones are ET13 or ET21 I think), to clear his
last IVA fail point (rear wheels just slightly too proud of bodywork).
I think most FWD fords are ET37/38 (and the sierra?) which should be fine.
It's too messy to change the bodywork so a swap to a pair of higher offset wheels, 14x5.5 or 14x6 should hopefully just bring the edges inboard
enough to clear it.
So we need:
ET37/38
4x108 pcd
14x5.5 or 14x6
minilite / superlite / minator style
a pair or set of four
wheels only (can take with tyres but don't need them).
Does anyone have a pair or set they're thinking of selling? We're in the midlands, can collect within reason etc.

Just be aware that by pulling the wheels into the bodywork may give you brake calliper clearance issues if you have rear discs. A middle ground
alternative may be Peugeot 205 alloys which are the same stud and centre bore as the fords but the 14x5.5/6 are ET24.
I have a matching set of the Speedline SL201 pepper pot style 14x5.5 ET24 and may be passing close to the midlands a week on Friday (16th) if that is
of interest, just after the £75 back I paid for them. All need tyres I think but can check and a refurb but are straight with little curbing and
presentable for a test (or rattle can to spruce them up).

OK, interesting..
OK thanks mate, they might just work.
Let me check 2 things;
- Are you sure the bore is the same, I thought Pug/Citroen were bigger and you needed spigot rings to make them fit?
- I just thought that actually some Caterham wheels are ET21 (he has ex-Caterham) so i'll get him to double check. If his current ones are 21
then yours at 24 might not be enough, but if his are ET12 as I think they are, then the extra 10-11mm might be fine.
I'll come back tomorrow when he's checked.

I will check the bores tonight but the rings are not expensive and will also check condition of the tyres as there may be a couple that could be OK
for a retest.
edit - just checked with 'tinternet and Ford centre bore is 63.4mm and Peugeot is 65.1mm - 0.85mm on radius which I don't think will
notice and you will not get a spigot that thin.

Some versions of the Ford Ka were fitted with 14" 'minilite' wheels - I would put them on mine - but the Haynes wishbones
don't give enough clearance for anything under 15s (I have heard tell)...

The important bit for you will be that the offset is going to be approx. 35-40 I reckon and they are 4 stud - as I understand that Sierra / Ka / Puma
/ Escort wheels are all interchangeable...

I have some minilite type wheels which are et25 I think but I would want to sell them as a set of 5

Ugg10 - let us measure up and confirm if the ET24 would work, we'll let you know. Tyres don't matter as our IVA man has officially
approved the ones we had on before so we would swap them over for the test
JPS - I remember those KAs, if I found a set of them they would be perfect!
MkII - ok, well we could buy a full set, but don't want to spend too much. Maybe a plan B...

But I think we'll pass.
My Dad's measured up and thinks because of the way his bodywork curves in and the specific nature of his fail he would need the ET37 to get as
much extra clearance as possible, so your Peugeot wheels wouldn't work this time. Shame, as they look cool....!
He's going to have a go with a set of wheelarch extensions he has, just to see if that's a better way to fix it rather than moving the
wheels inboard, so a couple of ideas.
