As an owner of an Alfa GT JTDm I could hardly vote for the other one

The Alfa will keep it's value better and is hugely more stylish. Does she want to be anonymous (Vectra) or have people come up to her and say "oooh nice car Mrs"

IMHO of course

Cheers

Mark

i have a vectra cdti elite 150bhp
i'd never have another nice car and all but not so good on fuel and suspension is far to soft

btw mine is a 2004 model with 50,000 miles

so maybe they have improved the newer model

Not known for glowing residuals Alfa, although things are improving. Still known for electrical naughtyness.

I have gone for alpha for the looks but they are renowned for basteward electrical problems. Id still have one.

The vectras are nice but they are known for problems also and the interiors are too plasticcy. That vauxhall 1.9 engine goes hell of alot better in the Saabs to.

Alfa Looks great but never in a million years. I once knew an Alfa mehanic, he moved to hyundia
Vectra's alot better now, but why? Brother had one, he went to nip past a lorry and it cut out on him, that adrenalin smell again!!!!

Look elsewhere there's plenty about.

Oooo the Alfa if the heart wins but Vectra if the brain does.

Something with a VAG 1.9 would be so much better and easier to live with. Not the newer 16v 2.0 Tdi though as they have a few problems to iron out.

Octavia?

I have an Octavia 2.0 TDI (140bhp) awesome engine! Not one problem with it... it's done in excess of 100,000 miles now and still feels like it's new.

I'd probably go for the Alfa Diesel... based on looks alone. Vectra's tend to disappear into obscurity... sadly, as they are a capable car.

Both engines, GM and Alfa share the same parents (and SAAB). So go with your heart - I chose Alfa and have never regretted it for a second!
The mysterious electrical problems are, so far, a mystery to me as I have seen none.
Maybe I've got a good one, but I'd have another (and probably will in 18 months).
The GT is an acquired taste, but I love it. Unfortunately, mine's a 156!
