Do you reckon Malc at yorkshire engines will get many in??

worX - 12/10/07 at 11:52 AM

Thats the first of the Ducati's of the last few years that I really like!

You still can't beat a 996 though...

Just looking at pics of the engine - recon you'd struggle getting it in a se7en with the angle of that front pair of cylinders as they are near horizontal!!

Bet it sounds amazing though hey!!

With only 1,500 due to be made, I'd very much doubt it. Even if he did though, would you buy one? Dukes are hardly the most reliable bikes and clutches are notoriously weak, even in the bike.

Also, the power aint really that good in comparison to the latest generation of mass produced 1,000cc sportsbikes that are on the market and as we know, Malc can get those with only a few miles on the clock.

They do sound great though.....

so what do we think is the best current candidate for a bec? zx10r seems to be getting good press at the moment.

Hellfire - 12/10/07 at 12:04 PM

If you want a 1,000cc engine, then the ZX10R is a great engine and probably top of the list at the moment, closely followed by all of the others (in no particular order; GSXR, Blade, R1 etc)

zx10r FTW! 187 bhp so not that far off, with an exhaust, filter and remap should hopefully see 200.

parts are now starting to be come available for the zx10r, mk build a jig from my engine for the cradle and hopefully somewhere will have a jig for the zorst soon!

Paul TigerB6 - 12/10/07 at 12:07 PM

I'm going for a dry sumped ZX12R - but thats as much due to the height limitations as anything in my Tiger B6. I'd have a 200bhp ZZR1400 if it would fit - requires no sump mods (correct Malc or others???)

Was just about to post up a similar topic to this after looking on pistonheads...

It might not be the most practical engine choice but the noise it makes is

Have a listen here

It is a also a rather stunning looking bike

Confused but excited. - 12/10/07 at 03:34 PM

Nah, not for me.
V-twins and V8s produce music, everything else just makes a noise.

StevieB - 12/10/07 at 04:40 PM

I quite facy the idea of a Triumph speed triple install - a bit different and the noise is something a bit special.

Power might not be up there, but it should still be a lively performer.

2008 Hayabusa has a slightly larger capacity giving (nearly) 200 HP

Coose - 12/10/07 at 04:54 PM

Keep up at the back - the Ducati has been out for a couple of months now! Mine is on order.......

(and then I woke up! )

It probably still won't start if it's wet
