What do people think of the water rail over the exhaust manifold... i will be adding a heat shield, but whats peoples view ? too messy, should it go
under neight???

It's looking good.
Have you tried the nose cone on with the plumbing set up you have?
May be a bit tight.
One more thing - do you have the required 80 degree visibility to the sides from your front indicators?
I only ask since I set mine up like that before SVA only to find that they were hidden by the front wheels.

You will need a bleed screw in that top water rail, or you will have problems with air locks in the cooling system. Where are you going to mount the
header tank?.

can't be sure, but have you got enough space to run that water pipe under the manifold? just thinking heat rises etc,
the nose code does fit on, which is good :-)
there is enough space to run the water pipe under the manifold but then it gets tricky at the rad end, but i might try that to see if its neater, and
it will certainly help with the heat from the manifold.
i was going to mount the header tank on the schuttle panel and make sure it was highter than anything else coolant related...
someone else mentioned the indicators too - that i might have problems... i think i have mounted the brackets too far out too, cause when it was up on
axle stands the wheels were no where near, now its on the ground, the wheels come VERY close to the brackets on full lock, so i might re-engineer them
to be higher...

do you think that having the pipe under the manifold will help with any air locks??? i guess if it was under, then the take off from the thermostat would be heighter ?
air locks will be in the highest point of the system, in your case the metal pipe over the manifold, if you put it below the exhaust, this should help
with heat, but will move the problem to the next highest point in the system which i guess would be the top hose out of the engine.
consider a bleed screw or some other way of filling the system. i know you can get peices of metal pipe with a rad cap in it, but don't know if
having one up there and another on the radiator would be a problem..

i took in all that was said and decided to try the water pipe under the manifold...
mainly cause i think it will be too hot above the manifold and as an added bonus, it looks alot neater too..

i was looking at Classic Ford magazine today and noticed that they had an ST170 in their mag in an Escort MK2.
It uses a RetroFord waterrail that looks like it pretty much rests on the manifold....
got me thinking as to how much it must heat the water rail up...
