Locost Valve Clarification FYI
blackie - 8/9/10 at 08:39 PM

Hello folks, just a quick note for anyone building Locost racers out there for the 750MC series, this message has been sent out from the club to the drivers registered for the championship – I thought it may be useful for those of you not yet registered & therefore not receiving it;

Dear David,

Locost valves.

I am able to confirm that the club now has in its possession samples of inlet and exhaust valves from Fomoco, TRW, Inter and AE and that these will be used as comparison to inlet and exhaust valves fitted to any engine which is examined for eligibility.
The championship regulations specify
The following Technical Regulations are set out in accordance with the MSA specified format and it should be clearly understood that if the following texts do not clearly specify that you can do it, you should work on the principle that you cannot.
A) STANDARD: The word ‘standard’ used within these technical regulations as a description of components is to be interpreted as per ‘Standard Part’ defined in Section B – Nomenclature & definitions in the MSA Blue Book. Checking will be by comparison to spare parts supplied by the manufacturer’s official agent or by any other means necessary to ensure compliance.
B) STANDARD PATTERN: The phrase ‘standard pattern’ used within these technical regulations as a description of components is to be interpreted as per ‘Standard Part’ defined in Section B – Nomenclature & definitions in the MSA Blue Book. Checking will be by comparison to spare parts supplied by the manufacturer’s official agent or by any other means necessary to ensure compliance.
and only allow modifications which are specified in section 5.7 of those regulations; no modifications to the valves are permitted in that section.

Robin Knight.
750MC Competitions Secretary.
