Hammerhead - 19/2/09 at 09:21 PM

Has anyone asked for SVA on 27th April? My forms are poised to be sent off first thing tomorrow, just wondering if i'm taking the mickey with the date I asked for

Steve.

As long as it's an SVA he failed, he can be retested up to 6 months later. Only problem would be if he was refused a test on presentation

Please tell me that is an old pic from 6 months ago!

watsonpj - 19/2/09 at 10:45 PM

surely it doesn't matter if its finished just present it for sva. It fails and then you get 6 months to finish.

greggors84 - 19/2/09 at 11:07 PM

To present it there it needs to be able to move of its own power, on 4 wheels preferably!

mad4x4 - 20/2/09 at 07:22 AM

Could it not be tested as a 3 wheeler ?

Does that mean then in theory you could build up the rolling chassis without bodywork and then just fail on exterior projections and lack of bodywork?

I expect one would be refused a test on the basis of 'taking the piss'. Lose the test fee and pay out for IVA when the car is ready.

Vindi_andy - 20/2/09 at 08:39 AM

AFAIK the car must be presented in a reasonably roadworthy condition else the tester can refuse to test and as said you loose the fee but worse you end up reapplying and ending up with IVA

Dangle_kt - 20/2/09 at 09:01 AM

I asked for last week in april, and got the 24th April.

It is possible, but I asked for this weeks ago now, plus my car is very nearly finished.

In about two weekends time it will just be sva trim type thing left to do - should give me about a months sitting and waiting time...

On the plus side, I found an industrial estate car park that is HUGE, and is not in use. Think I might go down there one evening, chat to the security guard see if I can cross his palm with silver and go for a little drive

Hammerhead - 20/2/09 at 09:07 AM

No it's not six months ago, it's now!

The drill is old but it's only one in my arsenal, and not used often.

There will be four wheels (all the correct way round) when tested.

Even though I have asked for the 27th I hope that they will offer me a date as close to this as possible.

The ace up my sleeve is that I have a month off work to get it done.

Tally ho!

Vindi_andy - 20/2/09 at 09:12 AM
