Convertables on track days.

My wife has an MX5 and has allowed me use it for a track day in Feb. I was just wondering if it
needed a roll bar to be allowed on track. Has anyone had experience of this. I booked a day at Oulton park.
Thanks.

Depends on track and organiser, if I was you I would give the organisers a ring.
At Llandow it is not normally an issue.

i've done 3 or 4 trackdays now at oulton in mx5s and it's never been an issue. can't remember all the organisers, but one was definitely with mazda on track

personally, i'd rather have one than not (i have a TRLane TD), but i'm yet to see an mx5 roll at a trackday. there's always time though...

Ive seen pictures of one rolled, and it aint pretty. The driver had a roll cage which definitely saved his life.

It really depends how far you want to push it.

Depends on the organiser but generally they only insist on a bar if you're running on slicks, I think.

Most will probably just require a full face helmet, long sleeve clothing and probably gloves.
