Wheel/Hubs issue

Can anyone help,

I have bought a Locost rolling chassis which has Cortina front hubs and currently a Capri axle.

However I also have the rear 'axle' from an Sierra XR4x4 complete with LSD diff (diff recently overhauled) and rear disc hubs. I also have a de-dion rear axle kit to suit the Sierra hubs but keeping the 5 link live axle locost style mountings.
I would really like to install this Sierra rear end with the de-dion tube and rear hubs but am now thinking of the wheels.

Ideally I would like 13" or 14" minilite style wheels approx 6" wide with the Ford PCD but am now wondering about offsets as I imagine the Cortina/Sierra are not the same.

I would ideally like something that will fit both the Cortina front and Sierra rear hubs but what offset would be best and which make of wheel would lend itself to this?

If there is no single solution and different sizes or offsets are necessary between front and rear, I dont want the wheels to look completely different between front and rear and would also visually prefer the spokes and centre of the wheels to be set-in slightly (not flush with the outside edge of the rim)'

Can anyone offer any advice on which wheels and offsets to go for. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

Cheers

Angus

Hi Angus,
sorry for the slightly OT post, but I would be interested in buying the Capri axle off you if/when you get this up-date sorted. Sorry but I dont know the answer to your question, but I am certain someone who does know will be along any second. Best of luck,
Regards
Jon

Sierra wheels will be fine with the Cortina front uprights, just pick what style you want.

I'd say you need to use wheels with offsets to suit the hubs, the front more so than the rear as it has an effect on the steering
sierra wheels are mostly ET35 that shouldn't be far off the mark for the cortina hubs

just a couple of other things to think about in this mix
- the std. sierra has a wider track than the cortina (but in your case will depend on the size of the de dion tube you've got)
- there are only a few 13" wheels out there that actually fit over the sierra rear discs

There was an earlier for sale post selling smaller return springs for Sierra calipers that assist the fitting of 13" wheels
If you are fitting Sierra axle to didion tube in a book chassis the 4 link attachment needs to further inboard
gavin174 on here has done this mod.
If you use Escort offset the rear arches may need to be wider than standard
