I've had brain fade!!
I have some Wilwood Midilite 4 pot callipers that I have removed while re-plumbing the brake pipes after some accidental hose damage (don't leave
an axle stand in the way when you lower the jack, such a fool!! ). Ended up having to cut and strip out the old pipes coz the hose cimp flange got
bent, so I binned all the old stuff.
Now I've come to put the callipers back on I can't remember if the Wilwood brake pipe adaptor goes flat or cone side in to the calliper.
Don't really want to pull the other side to bits to see which way round it goes.
this end in caliper or this end?
Anyone got a better memory than me?

Are they not a 'universal' adaptor?
Whichever end fits your hose and a copper washer between adaptor and caliper.

I think if you look in the caliper, if the hole has a tapered bottom then the tapered side goes in. If its flat then the flat bit goes in!
Don't hold me to that tho! Insert legal and safety disclaimer here..
Ive just gone in the garage and checked for you - On my Powerlites the manufacturers bumpf says flat end in the caliper, other end hose.

That doesn't look to be the correct fitting for a wilwood caliper, one side should be tapered as it should be 1/8npt.
The adaptor in the picture looks to be -3JIC x 1/8BSP parrallel.
If you adaptor actually looks like this:
then the left hand end goes in to the caliper.

Cheers DavieP. Pic was nicked from website just to show the diffrent ends (flat or cone). The actual adaptor came with the calipers and may well be tappered never checked for that Douh!!
Remember that with tapered fittings you will need sealing media on the threads such as PTFE tape or a loctite product such as lock n seal. Also bare
in mind that the fitting probably won't go as tight as you might imagine.

I didnt notice a taper either, but point noted re loctite on it.

Did your calipers fit without shims. Was a bit miffed, when I first mounted my ones some months ago, to find out I had to shim the top caliper mount so as to miss the big disc. Also the first set had to be sent back because the calipers were wrongly supplied, some sort of metric / imperial issue. Expensive kit and not quite right was not what I was expecting.
They certainly work well now though (well before I broke the hose)
Tiz a tad off to have a high value product like this let down by manufacture issues and lack of information. Me thinks its the old chestnut of a USA
manufactured item being used on European metric kit.
The simple fix of bored out longer mounting pillars (reemed out originals with shims with good instructions would help) would sort out the problem
over night.
Not only that but it hurts my grey cells and cost me time and money on phone calls. Rally Designs give great support though
Cutting corners to save a couple of quid on such a simple part, lowers the overall product quality image dramatically.
Once fitted they certaily work well, no complaints there at all
