Cosworth rear calipers worn
Moorron - 4/4/16 at 12:10 PM

Hi guys, im after some advice on my rear brake setup on my MK Indy.

The rear brake pads are wearing non parallel to the back plates, in other words the pads are not being pushed flat against the discs and looking at the cause of this show a huge amount of play on the slider pins. I think the pins are fine but the bore they sit in (a pressed steel liner in the cast caliper carrier?) are shot. Can I drill these out and fit new ones? or is it a new caliper carrier and where from?

Sierra cosworth rear setup but I didn't build the car. Is there only one type?

Mine do that as well. I just change my pads every year

There are 2 types of caliper - vented or solid discs - each with a matching carrier

The solid disc type (2wd sierra cossie) are the same caliper as all the bog std sierra's, they just have longer mounting lugs on the bearing carrier to allow for the larger (273mm) discs

Vented ones are cossie only, but can be found on 4x4 sierra's, escorts and granada's

The caliper carriers are very hard to find on there own, even most of the recon calipers don't come with any...

I don't remember ever seeing any carriers with sleeves in them, maybe someone has already tried to fix your ones ?

I have a pair of Cossie 4x4 used calipers that appear to be good ( need new piston seal on one as removed for inspection ). U2U if interested.
