If i wanted to turn a FWD car into a RWD car, what car would i salvage a rear axle/diff from that i could modify/attatch to a shell?! im guessing something like off a sierra but there must be a selection?

cheers

Depends on wheteher you want independant suspension or live axle and the track and layout of the recipient car.

There are many RWD cars to choose from including, most BMW's, Mercedes, MK 1&2 Escorts, Capris, Sierra, 3.5 Rovers, most LDV's, older American cars, Subaru - whats right all depends on the application.

Also are you going front engined RWD or middy.

Converted FWD to RWD cars are often used in Rally X, particulary Mk3 Escorts. But unless it is for a specific competition car why bother, just buy a RWD car.

bit baised isnt it? kinda like saying dont build a kit car when you can buy a car ready made!

anyway. toying with the idea of a RWD mini. these a couple of issues but the first one would be how to mount a rear axle. yes i could stick the engine in the back but i want to keep the rear seats, so it would be a front mounted engine. which one?? probably a bike, but either way it still needs to power a prop to a diff. ive had a look at sierra axles but i think theyre gonna be a bit too big to squeeze under the rear of a mini to make fit
