Do you have a pic (or link to a website) of the quick release you have?? There should be a hexagonal boss that needs welding to the inner column.

When I first fitted a quick release boss i took it to an engineering company to do, who promptly welded it on back to front!! Did it myself once i worked out why the wheel was wobbling and it was fine in 5 years of use.

You have to cut the hex part of the sierra column off and weld on the quick release part. You can keep the stalks as they are.

There are several fixed bosses that fit Sierra columns, e.g. Mountney (but I wasn't impressed with their quality).

Don't Momo themselves do one?

You can buy a quick release boss that fits between a fixed boss (e.g. momo) and the steering wheel. However, they are fairly thick and move the steering wheel forwards by a couple of inches. Mountney do a much slimmer version that is also lockable, but it's quite expensive.
