hi all
as the title says
how do you fit a momo quick realease steering wheel boss to sierra coloum ?
i took off the original sierra wheel but there aint any obvious way i can see
do you have to remove all the indicator stalks/sendors etc ?, then what ?
much appriciated
cheers
Do you have a pic (or link to a website) of the quick release you have?? There should be a hexagonal boss that needs welding to the inner column.
When I first fitted a quick release boss i took it to an engineering company to do, who promptly welded it on back to front!! Did it myself once
i worked out why the wheel was wobbling and it was fine in 5 years of use.
You have to cut the hex part of the sierra column off and weld on the quick release part. You can keep the stalks as they are.
is there any replacment steering wheel on the market that doesnt need the boss to be welded, normal or quick realease ?
cheers
There are several fixed bosses that fit Sierra columns, e.g. Mountney (but I wasn't impressed with their quality).
Don't Momo themselves do one?
Finlay,
I got an OMP fixed boss from Rallynuts.co.uk good price and excellent quality.

You can buy a quick release boss that fits between a fixed boss (e.g. momo) and the steering wheel. However, they are fairly thick and move the steering wheel forwards by a couple of inches. Mountney do a much slimmer version that is also lockable, but it's quite expensive.
