Locost bonnet

Hi I'm looking for a bonnet for my car

The default locost solution is to make one. I've just made an ally one for my car.
The ally sheet cost £18. I used my old one for a rough pattern but you could make a paper or card pattern.
I bent it round a section of plastic pipe. I made the ribs by hammering to shape around a plywood former.
You could get away without the ribs.
Then its drilling, holesawing and rivetting. And some paint if you like.
You learn the techniques as you go along. I am not a sheet metal worker.
The only things I couldn't do were putting the louvres in and painting it.

I used 1.2mm 1050 sheet which I cut to shape with a borrowed air powered nibbler.
The louvres were punched in by Shapecraft in Hinckley. £20
I made a hole swager tool on a friends lathe.
The trickiest bit was forming the main bends. Lots of trial and error. Lots of measuring.
But if I can do it, so can you.

Looks really decent too! I've seen it.

SPYDER: That looks so good, love the strengthening ribs. And no doubt lighter than a fibreglass one, win, win.
