Fitting a windscreen

Anyone have any advice on fitting a windscreen?

I have a long lenth of rubber seal that will push over the flange on my body..... and obviously the screen and a filler strip for the seal...

But... Do I need to use any type of silicone etc between the seal and the body.....and the seal and the windscreen?

Any tips for getting the seal tight into the corners and then getting the windcreen into the hole?

use a tool made from a coat hanger to fit the trim strip and use non setting window sealant you can buy from halfords etc use only a small amount on all the channels except the one for the strip. loop soom string round the bodywork grove in the rubber with the glass inplace to ease it over the lip

Put the seal onto the glass first , then thread a length of wire (electrical type stuff ) around , in the groove that fit's onto the body .
Then comes the fun................
Sit the whole lot in the opening , with the ends of the wire at the bottom , and start by pushing the rubber over the lip on the opening . Have a friend hold it in place , then just pull the wire out of the groove at right angle - it will simply pull the lip of the seal into place .
And BINGO - one window fitted

Have done a full camper this summer and two windscreens later can now call myself an expert. As above really, seal on to the glass, I got some nice nylon strong cord and fed it round the screen overlap each end of the cord by 12". Buy some rubber seal lubricant from Halfords as it helps a treat. Then push the screen in to place squarely and centrally. DO NOT BE TEMPTED AT THIS POINT TO PUT ONE CORNER OR THE TOP IN AT AN ANGLE TO TRY TO FIT IT BETTER. Place it i the opening as it would be on the car. Then you need a mate to push the screen while you pull the cord towards your from inside the car to tease the seal over the lip. Some whacking and force needed to get it to seat correctly.

Little tip for looping the string around the screen rubber , get a spout from a mastic/silicon etc tube a (the tapered bit that screws onto the end of the mastic tube) thread the string through it and insert the thin end into the groove , hold the string and run the spout round the rubber.

Dont think getting the string into the rubber is going to be hard...

It has a 3mm slot in it :p

I will have to see what sealant I can find tommorow in Halfrauds

Is this the screen on the TVR?

I seem to remember they are a "claytonwright" type fitting, which means the rubber goes onto the body first. fit the glass into the rubber and then "lock" it in place with the filler strip.

If it is let me know and I'll type up some more detailed fitting instructions.

Som Washing up liquid on the rubber will help everything slip into place a bit like KY
