I want to hand craft a body plug and would like to know where is best to buy the foam from that can be carved and shaped?

Thanks,
Steve

Polyurethane foam sheets from a builders merchants seems to work quite well and you can buy squirty tins of the same stuff. Downside is it make one hell of a mess. Upside, you can shape it easily with sandpaper.

Polyurethane foam is easily sandable and is polyester resistant. Get it from Scot Bader shops in sheets upto 8x4 x 4" or as a 2 part liquid.

B&Q sell polystyrene in upto 8x4 sheets upto 4" or 6" thick. You can't use polyester on it because the styrene solvent will desolve the polystyrene. Epoxy resin is good though.

I have heard that the stuff that florists use is pretty good - can't think of the name at the moment but it is green and comes in block form. You can practically build the shape like lego bricks and then shape it with a sharp bread knife.

*edit* It's called OASIS

Sheffield Insulations (branches throught the country) used to do modelling expanded polystyrene. This is much denser than ordinary material and can be planed, sanded and shaped without crumbling - not cheap from memory but ideal for your application. Cheers, Pewe

Plywood / MDF / hardboard 'bulkheads' at 2" spacing filled in with 'browning' (gyproc product) for basic shape then polyfiller or P38 to finish off.

Very cheap compared to other methods but very heavy.

Try Flints Theatrical Chandlers for the 2 part foam. Fairly reasonable if I remember.

Cheers

Andrew

P.S. Have you got a dog to help you style it in best Peter Wheeler fashion??

i would use the blue foam that is used in wall insulation. It comes in 2 inch sheets and can be laminated with PVA or Araldite. It sand to a really good finish if you are carefull.
