Guys,

has anyone got any experience on these systems. the TRONIC ones seen cheap on ebay. Just want a way to communicate with my passenger with a helmet on easily.

I have an autocom system.

You get two speakers in each helmet and a mic, these stay permanently fitted leaving just a short flying lead atthe back.

Then theres a little box which controls everything. You can connect your phone (and use it as a hands free), GPS and music into it and its brilliant.

The other good thing about them is the noise cancelling. You dont get hardly any amplified wind noise, and speech is spot on. They are even loud enough so you can wear earplugs and still hear each other clearly if you turn it up.

The only downside is they are expensive. About £150 for a duo kit. But well worth it.

I bought one of the Tronic kits from Lidl before we did the GOME 6hr race at Mallory Park. Absolute bargain for 5 quid. The headsets are a bit uncomfortable under a helmet but the sound quality is very good and plenty loud enough - just tuck the mic up really high out of the wind. Gave the passenger 6 hours of amusement listening to the driver swearing, panicking and desperately trying to find some grip on a soaking and very slippery Mallory track!

I keep meaning to fit a helmet speaker so I don't have to wear the headset but haven't got around to it yet.

Overall you can't go wrong for the money. Very good on trackdays, especially when you are in the passenger seat and the red mist seems to have descended on the driver - in my case useful to remind my Dad that a) you can't brake for Druids THAT late, and b) the engine doesn't like revving to 8500. Bless.

We've had one of those fitted for about three years now. It's a nice piece of kit and good value for money IMO. Battery life is pretty good too.

Another vote here for the OMP set. We have these and they work fine. The only problem with them is that the ear pieces can sometimes get uncomfortable after a time.

I recommend Cardo scala teamset.
Both headsets are bluetooth to each other and you can add two more bluetooth devices (sat nav, mobile). The driver has control over wether they can join in on phone conversations or not.
The other thing is no wires so you can still have a conversation, say when filling up at the gas station.
I had the autocom on the F1-2 (just sold) but I found that it was hard to hear and I was always adjusting it.

I use an Autocom system as well. My wife and I use them on our motorbikes without any issues at all so it was just an easy decision for us to go down that route with the car.

I believe that Autocom recently had a 50% off deal running on their range so you might be able to find a unit cheaper than you think. I'm not too sure when the deal ends though as I know they were planning on showing their new range at the bike show at the NEC this week.
