If you were going to build a locost version of this, what engine would you use assuming you didn't need a top speed of 340mph?

And how do you think the stabilisers work?

hydraulic stabilisers maybe? automatically go up at a certain speed?

Looks like it uses the back end of a bike, so any of the big cc sports bikes would seem suitable.

Surely the stabilisers must be for low speed control...?

They stick out a bit and touch the ground giving the 'bike' a wider base and stop it falling over :p

I'm sure I've seen on the salt flat racers the stabilisers disappear once they get above a certain speed. No idea if that's manual or automatic. If it wasn't for the forces involved i'd say windscreen wiper motor linked to speedo on front wheel (so you can spin up the rear and not have the stabilisers retract at 1mph)
