... wish I'd left it alone but too late now.
been sawing, filing, dril, ing, grinding steel plate and tube to make an engine mounting. jolly nice it is but welding could be a tad better due to
welder not wanting to play ball. should hold although not pretty.
... and that is the easy side, still got the driver's to do, not only is there less space, there is steering column in the way.
hopefully get that done by tomorrow. off to garage once more
i bought mine from the chassis manufacturer for my specific engin. can only get 1 bolt in one side of the block, and in the chassis, and on the driver side, 2 bolts in the block and not in the chassis
A whole day ? Try a whole year almost.
I have just pushed car out garage for the 1st time since May !!!! 3 engine mounts done back then, one more left, work as got in the way big time but
must make a start as weather is turning.
I think my engine mounts took the least time of anything i have made so far in the whole build (3 hours for both).
Seat mounts were the worst. 3 different designs, 5 days work, and have now decided to just bolt the seats straight to the floor.

Yep spent all last week end making three mounts for the brake res'
One look this morning and I mad a fourth and last.
Still its done now.
for my old pinto, i chopped up the donor shocks to get some tubing to make engine mounts from! Probably took a day too if im honest!
I photographed Luego's mountings, and copied the idea. Took me a while.
In the end I took them out and threw them away and made some of my own design...
So its took a long time... Its all part of building your car.
Here I am 3 years later, just taxed it and got the eingine in bits for the 3rd time in two weeks. (did a minor fix on Fri 13th that didnt fix it)
Dont worry... put it down to experience and soldier on!
We have all been there, and sometimes more than once!!

owelly - 21/3/09 at 09:22 PMIt was during the MOT that I remembered that I hadn't actually finished my engine mounts! The ones on either side of the block were only tacked to the chassis rails! It was my intention to weld them properly when I took the engine out to tidy things up. Which I never did.
In fact, that's reminded me, I still need to do it. And make a bracket to hold the streering rack in........

Weld in some cross pieces from box, which already have tabs (with holes drilled).
Then drill holes in floor under seats to allow screwing seats in place.
Use rubber grommets to fill holes.
When car fills with water in unexpected shower, remove grommets
