Just got off the fone to Sureterm Direct for a policy on the locost turbo - and was very pleasantly surprised at the premium
21 year old driver, no NCB, 2 litre turbo locost - and with dad on policy as a 2nd driver (god forbid him ever driving it!!!) and i was extremely
pleased to hear the numbers "£557.15p"
which is fantastic considering that is the first quote i have gotten
now, anyone else who specialises in kitcar insurence i could try?
boom
paul
i've heard the name adrian flux as a kitcar insurer...
Ned.
might give them a ring - know a few people in the XROC who have had a few bad and raw deals with adrian flux when it comes to making a claim - still gotta be worthwhile ringing them tho
I got quoted recently for my turbo indy.
Fully comp, age 24, 6 points (speedingx2), with the missus (23) as a named driver, 5 k limited miles, Adrian Flux, £325!
Bargain!
The missus loved it when i explained that on asking about putting her on they said she was less of a risk to insure than me!!
Now thinks she's the better driver!
It all went wrong when we gave them the vote!
I was pleasently surprised when adrian flux quoted me around £900 last year with a 2nd driver. Cheaper than my 1.25 fiesta!
i rekkon i can get it down to 350 tho by scrubbing me dad off the policy. lmao
Got a quote from these guys for the Viento 3.5L V8. +/-200 BHP. Age 26. 1Yr NCB. £362.
Maybe worth a look?
cheers m8 - will give them a tinkle aswell
sureterm were very helpfull tho - answered my questions before i could ask them and you get 3 weeks insurence on chassis number with them for sva
purposes which is spanking
When i was 19 i got a quote for a 1.6 4age and the quote was 700, should come well down by the time im finished (29).
After reading this post, I tried Footman James, I got a quote for a 2.0i book chassis for £233, I am 42, full NCB, no convictions. 4500 miles and a valuation of £4000. I don't think that is bad
By putting your old man on the insurance it should bring it down. It certainly did when I got my policy through sureterm. (Providing he has not got
too many points and only one arm.) I think it is seen that someone else will be driving and hence less risk. I have also done the same on the type R,
brought it down by about £250 and he loves it when I am working away as he gets to take it out.
23 2 year no claims, 2 litre zetec, 6 points, £320 fully comp, limited to 4000 miles. When I changed from the 1300 crossflow to the zetec it only went
up £60!
Sureterm were the best I found after a lot of searching.
Yup, sureterm get my vote, I don't think footman james are too hot if you're young, they refused to insure me on a BEC at age 21.
Kingr
After reading this post I rang Adrian Flux.
I already have a policy with them for my Type 2 VW Camper, am 33 years old and used no NCB against the policy for my Locost. The policy was for just
me to drive (NOT MY MRS!) and was for Fully Comp cover. I specified £4000 agreed value and just 4k5 miles a year.
Was well pleased at £123.50 !
Don't know how you would fare being 'younger' though, good luck.
As I said earlier, didn't use any NCB, policy was termed 'Classic' by A. Flux, however, they are a broker and I am sure if you went
direct to whoever underwrote their quote it would be cheaper still.
But at £123 WHO CARES ????
Doh, sorry....car is 1600 xflow engined. Now that made a difference...of £12 against a 1300 xflow.
