I like it,

but why do you make such libleish comments, when your avtar depicts something that has arrived at an accident

In reverse ?

joneh - 8/5/09 at 06:05 PM

I think it needs to loose the spoiler and roof, then it'll look nice.

As a general kit car, rather than a replica.

oldtimer - 8/5/09 at 06:06 PM

I realise it is a sheep in wolf's clothing but hung, drawn AND quartered seems a little harsh. Some may even accuse us of trying to copy Lotus 7s....

grazzledazzle - 8/5/09 at 06:17 PM

My comments were based on it being a very very bad replica of a very beautiful and elegant car. It does nothing for the image of the industry or the very good products it produces. It cannot replicate the experience of driving the original car, and it certainly doesn't replicate it visually.

Maybe i am being a bit harsh, but it saddens me to see the image and memory of such beautiful and brilliant cars being being turned into tat.

As for my car Mr M, i obviously disagree but it is not trying to be anything other than what it is. Itself.

dickie b - 8/5/09 at 06:27 PM

I dont think its that bad - nothing as offensive as Banham's 'Bat' or the heaps of fake ferraris out there.

Would Chesil's speedster get the opinion? That is the same brew.

Marcus - 8/5/09 at 06:28 PM

If he didn't call it a Porsche replica, it doesn't look bad, IMHO.
Lose the badges and spoiler (and a grand or so!!) and that's fine by me.

LBMEFM - 8/5/09 at 06:56 PM

I don't understand, I have driven these cars and they are very good, a hell of a lot better than many so called Ferrari's, Lambo's and Cobra's etc. Maybe kit cars are not really for you.

stevec - 8/5/09 at 07:03 PM

I love it and am seriously considering selling my Indy and getting one.

Steve.

The steering wheel appears to be almost in the center of the car....very strange

iscmatt - 8/5/09 at 07:36 PM

I want to add that love the look of grazzledazzle's car

britishtrident - 8/5/09 at 07:50 PM

A lot of truly awful Porche replicas have been built over the years ---- this car might not be a true replica but time moves on and in these days of SVA & worse IVA it just about impossible to build a faithful replica any way.

JonBowden - 8/5/09 at 08:18 PM

It looks ok to me.
I'm not sure what the original looked like, I'm just judging it on it's own merit

Looks like a Kharmann Ghia.

MikeRJ - 9/5/09 at 10:43 AM

Apart from the ridiculous spoiler which has no place on a car like this, I don't think it's too bad. It's not an exact replica, but it captures most of the details of the original.

In fact this has to be one of Banhams better efforts. If you have problems with this then check out his Maestro based RS200, and Metro based Audi TT inspired car!

Hellfire - 9/5/09 at 01:59 PM

The original

The replica

JoelP - 9/5/09 at 04:22 PM

nto bad IMHO, however, isnt Paul Banham the man responsible for the audi TT 'replicas' (term used loosely...)? If so, carry on with the execution!

02GF74 - 11/5/09 at 01:59 PM

looks too long to me,

he is a proper one, I think.

Liam - 11/5/09 at 05:39 PM

What's with the front lip, side skirts and rear spoiler?! Ruins the classic rugby ball shape and makes a mess of an otherwise reasonable replica. A Max'd 550 Spyder? Please...
