Hornet V locost
pinto - 28/5/09 at 05:28 PM

Scanning ebay as usual for cars
And have seen a few hornets / Locust cars
Had never heard of these seem fairly cheap
Whats the differences compared to a tiger or locost
Is it just the age they seem fairly old
Still really want a stylus/sylva /fury
But what with work drying up at moment (self employed chippy)
Cant really pay out £5,000 or so
so i was looking for something cheaper
Thanks

If you are a chippy you might be OK with a Locust. I think they had a plywood tub instead of a space frame chassis.

Hi Pinto,
The Sylva striker, Locost, Tiger etc all have welded 'space frame' type chassis with alloy/stainless fibreglass bodywork and as such are rigid and should handle well. The 'Locust' however is old fashioned as it has a ladder chassis with plywood bodywork covered with alloy sheeting. It is not so rigid and naturally not such good handling. Save up a bit more or look out for locost chassis' which are now appearing for sale and are quite cheap!

r u after bec or cec?

MikeRJ - 28/5/09 at 08:08 PM

Nasty. Just look at the hideous rear arch gaps, seems to be a common failing on these.

I'm sure I read somewhere that these only exist to make Robin Hood owners feel better Look, I managed to upset two camps at once!

Was mostly looking at cec
but if the right bec came up ?
Did wonder why it looked so high at back
