Is it just me that has the bad luck with my Kit car? Or are there other people out there? Well got to Newark car show ok on Saturday but on the way back not far from home and my bonnet decided to come off flying passed my head, Lol.
I only just over took a car so was ready to turn round to see me bonnet in bits on the road, but there was some luck there for me it was in good order just in need of some bodywork and spraying now and need new clips to as it ripped the front two out.
But apart from that a good day.

You're not the first to have lost his bonnet if it helps.
As for luck. To say I had bad luck might imply that I also got good luck which simply isn't true

i lost my front cycle wing about a mile from stoneleigh (drove from ashford kent)
It took out the bracket and the brake line.
only just getting it all sorted now.

The worst thing is when you have friends that whine about their bad luck when they are always getting good luck, I've got one whos been caught speeding about 6 times, never had a fine, never got points, just got told to slow down, he always gets mistaken double orders when he buys things too, he bought a laptop and got sent two, bought a 7 inch digital photo frame and got sent a 19 inch tv(worth quite a lot more) - really annoys me.

There is a saying...

"If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all".

bad luck?

you were lucky you were not decapitated or decapitate a cylcist/pedestrian/mpotorcyclist or luckly the bonnet did not smash into a 09 reg lamborghini ... or in the panic stack your car into a lampost.

so how come the clips gave way?

what clips are they?

were the fitted to GRP bodywork?

can we have some photos and more info so that others can avoid similar misfortune.

i had some amazing look on way to Newark. Front cycle wing detached itself from wingstay on A1 at 70mph, rather than fly off it touched the tyre which flicked it forward. It wedged itself in the front wishbone, being held up by the headlight, just as a junction came up so i could pull off the A1 and retrieve it. Not even a scratch on it!

Huh, bad luck?

I had a swiming pool that burnt down.

I think most people have lost a front wing, mine came off and rotated on the wheel and finished up as a skid under the tyre!

Left a lovely yellow skid mark!

Cheers

Chris

Spooky, straight out of the Final Destination film plot.

Since my bonnet went flying a while back, I've had a special safety device...

...every time I go near the car, my wife shouts out "Have you checked the bonnet catches?!"

Bad luck? Good luck? no chance.

I have no luck whatsoever ever ever. some things fit some things don't.

Both my cycle wing stays have broken (bad luck?) but the wings didn't come off (good luck?) neither in my book, still had to weld them up.

Now that's what I call TOUGH luck

David Jenkins - 23/6/09 at 01:52 PM

I don't believe in luck, good or bad. Stuff happens, that's all. It's how you deal with it that counts.

My bonnet flew off a while back - it wasn't bad luck - I forgot to do up the latches!

I had a bit of bad luck a couple of weeks back, it was a nice day so i said to my partner lets go drag racing at north wealdand then we can see what the Kit rearly goes like.
We got to the airfield signed in and got scutineared, then lined up in the que as you do waited nearly 2hrs for my turn, the chap called me onto the warm up the tyres spot, and hey presto away we go and i ripped the arse out of the clutch and it all fell out on the floor, (Day over £20 to get in £20 to race £141 for a new clutch and a ride home on the back of an AA transporter.
