Good day in the garage!
Dangle_kt - 29/7/09 at 05:50 PM

Took today and tomorrow off work, and been hard at it all day.

Made great progress - front rosejointed suspesion back on one side complete with Dax SVA cheat bar - which was a bugger with all them washers in the mix!

Wiring loom 90% wrapped, tidied and routed sensibily( I'll come back to that in a minute)

exhaust end can taken apart, emptied and repacked

New home made wingstays test fitted.

had a few problems too (as is always the way!)

1) Ran out of 8.8 m19 bolts for the front suspension on the other side

2) front brake caliper is now in a position where I will have to take it off to route it back through the suspension - i forgot about it till it was too late! Doh!

3) I'm not really happy with how the loom is shaping up... its a new loom due to gremlins and hasn't been shortened, which leave quite a lot of spare central loom, I've got it behind the scuttle in a reasonable place, but it looks a mess - and my scuttle has an open front. I'm a bit concerned mr SVA won't like it as it is going to be pretty tricky to secure properly.

Some pictures are below to get your thoughts, sorry on the quality the garage is dull.

Has anyone got any pictures of wiring behind there scuttles to try to gauge what is deemed acceptable?

Best of all, the car FEELS like a car again now, I'm really looking forward to my SVA which I have postponed for the FIFTH time now, and is sept 1st...

Thanks Rescued attachment wiring1.jpg

So, why not box the scuttle in?

Imagine a coolant or god forbid a fuel leak in the engine bay....

Or, box it in for SVA, what he can't see he can't fail ya

Yeah, good idea....

I'd have to trim that carbon fibre panel right back which has all the relays and ecu mounted on it, but its do-able.

What would you suggest as a good material to use? I'm guessing alu sheet would be easiest.

slip a piece of ali sheet inside the scuttle 90deg bend on the bottom to fasten (rivet) it to the base will look much neater, then cable tie all your wire to the ali sheet - simples!!

I like it! good thinking, it will look tidier and hide the edges of the cut panel, which going by my previous efforts will be a state!

How does the car go mate? You pleased?

You'll have to pop over when you get chance, I'd love to see it.
