Have come across these lately

How would one of these match up to a fury in the driving and handling stakes
don't like the older gtms but the Spyder looks very nice

I like them , but as far as handling goes , against a well setup Fury they arent even close - that trailing arm rear suspension causes some odd behavior (yes , I've been in one driven hard , and it felt very strange when pushed)

I like the fact that it's a soft top, but IMHO the GTM Libra (basically the same but a coupé) is much better looking

It's not a pure trailing arm setup though, it quite ingenious as it has camber compensation built in. I can imagine getting it working properly would be a major task though.

They are stunning looking cars, and I've always quite fancied one. However, the major problem with them (as a buyer) is how well they hold their money, and the decent selection of Elises available for similar or less money.

Although I'm no fan of the Spyder, I have driven many Elises and my own Libra. I even drove S1s before I built the Libra and STILL bought a Libra.
The ONLY thing that I believe the Elise has over a Libra is handling... and frankly neither car is going to worry a Fury.
My car is quite capable of keeping with an Elise on any road I have bothered to drive it on with Elises I know.
In addition it is quicker in a straight line (power to weight isn't rocket science), much more practical and, quite importantly to me, but maybe not to others, much more exclusive than an Elise.
Bear in mnind that the Libra is a SPORTSCAR and should be judged as such, mine has never been near a track, nor will it ever. If you want a trackcar, buy something with a Jeremy Phillips chassis!!!

In what way is it much more practical? It's still got pretty limited luggage space IIRC?

I'm only speaking about the Libra bear in mind, but it has a big shelf behind the seats with about 800mm height up to the roof and a very wide boot at the rear. It also has much more room in the cabin including head and legroom the Elise could only dream of. It also carries a full size (205 17 40) spare tyre on a proper wheel.

It means two of us can take all the camping stuff to Stoneleigh without looking like we're off to market on the Indian subcontinent like most Seven's do...
