Any top tips for selling?
frodo_monkey - 19/8/09 at 12:39 PM

Hi chaps,

You might have noticed my race car for sale in the appropriate section...

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=119301

I've advertised it on Pistonheads, FastRoadAndTrack, PPC, the 750MC and on here - I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions I may have not thought of?

I don't really want to put it on eBay (I'm not hugely desperate to sell and want it to go to a 'good' home!) but I would rather it went before too long. I'm not averse to keeping it over winter but that is probably when I'll get a lower price.

Any suggestions?

Frodo

For what its worth, I am amazed this hasn't sold!

Nothing else I would suggest except a classified advert on Ebay as opposed to the auction side. It won't help with the numpty demographic which you will still hit but it does create the widest possible exposure!

Sarcastic posting (by me) aside, I can't believe it hasn't sold either.

The only hint/tip I can suggest is to take it along to as many TD's as you can with a mahoosive For Sale board on it?

I too am stunned that this package hasn't sold.

I'd very definately be in the market, if I could sell mine first.

But as you won't take PX

I'd like to suggest that you wrap it up warm in the garage, stop advertising it, and wait until I have some money!

I'd split the car & trailer if I were in your position, as many people will not necessarily want/need the trailer. You'll probably get more for the trailer sold separately anyway & the "real price" of the car will be even more attractive

Some more pics of the details of the car would also help to show off what looks like a really nice car (engine bay / cockpit / inside the rear cover.

.....tbh, I nearly snapped your hand off & I dont even want one

i think that your problem is that its a race car, which is even more of a luxury than a road going car - you need to find someone who has nearly 6 grand to spend on a few weekends fun, as opposed someone who (rightly or wrongly) hopes to use a road going kit every sunny day. Thats a big difference, and in fact it can be difficult to even find the latter, never mind the former.

I think that you might need to wait for confidence to return to the economy, or make it such a bargain that someone buys it anyway.

I tried selling my Peugeot 205 Racecar a few years ago, but I was just getting silly offers for the car.

In the end I ended up stripping it and selling it in bits, I also sold all my spares as seperate items. Not really what I wanted to do but I ended up quids in and got a lot more than I wanted to sell it as a full package
