I went on this this morning. Members of my family clubbed together and bought it as a present for my XXth birthday. It was 3 laps in each of 3 cars
that you could choose from:
1972 Porsche Carrera RS
Aston Martin DB4
1966 E-Type Jaguar Coupé
Cobra (after having a close look I asked one of the instructors and it was a classic... Dax!)
I opted not to drive the Cobra as the Aston and the E Type are classic British cars that I had always liked, and I had never driven a Porsche of any
kind.
Porsche - interesting as it was the first rear engined car I had driven, but not as tail happy as I had expected
Aston - looks fantastic but was actually not very nice to drive - horrible seating position, heavy steering and heavy clutch, and it didn't feel
very tight.
E Type - mm mmm! Spindly wood-rimmed wheel, but a nice notchy gearchange and I felt like I was starting to be able to put it where I wanted it to go
without huge muscle effort.
So... it was a bit pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
(P.S. I will be back at Goodwood in September for the Revival - anyway else going?)
