MK alternative... Fury?
55ant - 6/10/09 at 12:46 PM

hi all

well as some may remember from a previous post SWMBO is not best pleased with the mk indy as its my only car and has not wet weather gear etc etc, now i absolutely love it, not only for the driving but also fidling and having something differant and pretty quick. so i have been looking for an alternative and to be honest i have always been fond of the mr2 turbo but would really prefer a simpler engine and front engine rear drive. So i have come across this, and somehow managed to pass it of to SWMBO as a 'normal' car

Normal Car

what do you guys think?

I like it - and it seems to be not bad money

sold! thats it im going for it, going to sell up and look over the winter!, as you can see i really was on the fence.

instead of changing the car, try changing her less hassle in the long run

i do like the fury. if its got all the weather gear (as it says) i think she'll be happy. you'd have let her drive it though by the look of things

Nice looking car.

What about fitting a screen and hood etc. to your Indy though?

Cheers,
James

Excellent choice.

But I am biased

Good car. Just wish people would stop selling them that cheaply...

Looks perfectly normal car to me. Even without the roof it'll be a lot more civilised than the MK and probably out perform one as well.

as soon as SWMBO discovers there is no sun blind with mirror on reverse, you will be in the poo big time.

Bluemoon - 6/10/09 at 01:04 PM

^^ Must say I like that one; good job I don't have a spare 5K!

That's what I wanted but had to go for a 7 type as a Fury wouldn't fit up my drive!

clairetoo - 6/10/09 at 04:53 PM

Another slightly biased view here ............. go for it
But.........as `standard' the Fury isnt the most practical everyday car - the boot is tiny , the fuel tank is tiny , and the weather gear is'nt that weatherproof - all things that I have addressed on my everyday driven Fury

How did you sort the weatherproofing out?

I fancy a fury in the future, but mainly due to it being more civilised in case the Mrs hates the kit car!

watsonpj - 6/10/09 at 05:21 PM

My wife won't go in the fury, Too low , doesn't feel safe (may be my driving though) , too noisy etc

I've added a strip of carbon to the top edge of the doors on the inside for water thats gets past the seals , and made different brackets for the side screens - fisher use two `tabs' that leave a gap under the side screen , whereas mine has full length channels , silicone sealed to the door .
I also added top small tabs at the top front corner of the side screens to hold them against the seal's (otherwise the screens are sucked out at speed)
Then.....an extra seal across the top of the screen to seal that joint , and a stick-on seal all the way around where the hood meets the rear of the body , then two small upright tabs either side behind the doors with some more door seal on (which seal against the strips on the doors)
Also some push-on edging around the side screens to seal against the hood .
I've also stitched the weird flaps around the door openings shut as they act like air scoops at any speed above walking pace .

I think thats about it
