I wont feel so guilty buying myself some shiny goodies to replace the awful sva bits for xmas then!

chris-p-duck - 15/12/09 at 08:29 PM

Started adding mine up and got to about 6k with a bit of work/IVA/insurance/registration etc still to go. So I stopped and went for a pint to ease the depression..............

oldtimer - 15/12/09 at 08:59 PM

I'm at £4K now but have pretty much got everything I need - aiming to be OTR for £5K.

scutter - 15/12/09 at 09:05 PM

3.5k for the X-flow powered car, then 1.5k to re-chassis it and fit a zetec, So 5 k to get where i am.

ATB Dan.

corrado vr6 - 15/12/09 at 09:08 PM

I added mine up the other week got to £15000!! and still counting, budget was £10k GULP!

StrikerChris - 15/12/09 at 09:20 PM

the annoying thing to me looking through these receipts is essentially the car was built for not much over half the final cost.obviously there's the main outlay for the chassis suspension wheels brakes seamles tube, rear tub etc i bought new,and dont mind paying for, cause the car's just how i wanted it.but then things like the hoses for the turbo system, steering wheel lights clips and all the other finishing bits etc, which i shopped round for the cheapest i was happy to use, adds up to nearly as much!and i know if it wasn't for the sva i'd have been happy with other ways of doing things!that said i didn't pay for anyone elses services or even have to buy any bolts rivets aluminium or general consumables so cheers to anyone who's knowingly helped out!

Just under £3000 including SVA and registration. About £500 since for upgrades.

Nah, she thinks it was £250! That 1800 didn't include sva, ins or tax though, have spent about £300 since on upgrades and buying wrong stuff!

MikeR - 15/12/09 at 10:06 PM

mine cost me nothing - mainly cause I haven't added up the reciepts and have no intention of doing so.

mark chandler - 15/12/09 at 10:42 PM

£3k including tools, lathe and Tig welder, blown two engines since and added turbo and 3.14 diff so maybe £4.5k now.

Its the little bits that add up

You cant use his car as a comparison, look at his engine!!

I reckon mines about 4k all in but never added it up. i had a spread sheet that auto added it up when i started but got scared at howw high it went but when u consider how much i bought and sold and used something different i dont think it is that bad.

eznfrank - 16/12/09 at 09:56 AM

I've got a zx12 Indy with some luxuries but not OTT and mine is around £10k including IVA (to come).

Macbeast - 16/12/09 at 10:39 AM

Less than the divorce

flak monkey - 16/12/09 at 11:00 AM

Mine cost about £5.5k on the road. The new engine is costing around £2.5k on top of that.

Its had a few other small things added over the past couple of years, probably about £750s worth.

iiyama - 16/12/09 at 11:11 AM

Add up the receipts?? Dont be so 'kin silly!!!

RK - 17/12/09 at 12:26 AM

I'm in a foreign land, and therefore costs will not be relevent to a UK audience. Oh, hi dear!!!

Fred W B - 17/12/09 at 07:07 AM

At the bottom of my spreadsheet of costs I divide the total by the number of months I have been workig on the project. Feels much better if you compare that number to what some people spend on golf/pubs/running a race kart etc etc.

Cheers

about £9.5K OTR including SVA and registration.

Mrs was the one with the spreadsheet. and I think she added in some of the tool bought for the job. Could have done it cheaper but wanted somenice bits on it.

No paid for outside service just mates help and trimmed it all ourselves.

Will probably be buying full weather gear for it rather than trying to make it but in the process of making a surrey top

Simon - 25/12/09 at 01:37 AM

When I got on the road I was up to approx £3000 (including rfl, sva and insurance).

I then spent about £1200 on turboing the engine which I gave up on last year and spent another £500 on a 3.9, and just need to spend about another couple of hundread finishing/painting bodywork and I'll be back on road. and up to £4700 (over 7 years) or £13/week

ATB

Simon
